She finally got it, I think

I am a particular eater.

Bless her heart, Mrs. T has spent the past decade attempting to get me to enjoy or at least to eat my veggies. She's blanched, baked, boiled or served them raw. I pick, and occassionaly smile while doing it, sorry Martha, but frankly I'd rather lick dirt. I am as convinced, as I am that Christmas is December 25, that I could go to my dotage without ever eating another veg, and live to tell the tale.

So last evening, Mrs T outdoes herself. It was raw green bean night for the Toad. Come dinner, I pickin' at 'em, spreading around my plate when finally she stops, looks at me and says, " You really don't like vegetables do you?"

No ma'am I don't, I replied.

Tonight was squash. I wasn't offered any. Let us give thanks.

"Vegetables are not food. Vegetables are what food eats."

Seen on a t-shirt.

I'm from Nebraska, where as far as we know there are only three vegetables--corn, green beans and peas. My SIL will still only eat the last two covered in either mushroom soup or cheese.

I like the new picture in your header--very nice.

Mr. B calls vegetables "filler." Sadly, I feel the same, but am my own Mrs. T and just keep fixing them and putting them on my plate - and pushing them around.

This reminds me of an expression I sometimes hear down here (imagine this with an East Texas twang), "You got to dance with them what brung you."

I too am not a happy herbivore & am delighted to have married someone of the same mind. Since that sounds terribly smug of me, let me counter that by saying we have longstanding debates over sweets. Somehow he can live without them . . .

I like vegetables pureed, with lots of cheese and butter. Then, it's not like eating vegetables.

Probably my biggest complaint with shrubbery is that I neither eat cheese nor sauce. So its neat for me.

Did anyone else see the report yesterday that vegs are 10-40 % less nutritious now than they were in our youth? More ammunition is always good.

Well at least your not prejudice. You won't eat ANY veggies just not the green ones.
