The blue linen jacket

Once upon a time I mentioned a piece of heavy blue linen dropped into my lap. My plan was to have the alchemist convert it into an odd jacket in time for the Easter bunny. One thing led to another, and it was several months before we connected.

Connect we did though, and once again he has worked his magic. Earlier this week I paid a visit for the last fitting. Here is what I found. Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue...

Single button, patch pocket, side vent, 2 button cuff, peak lapel. A hybrid mix of formal peak lapel, and casual open patch pockets.

The sleeves need to be shortened, and I changed buttons at the last minute from brass and blue to something that matches the material. The lining which I forgot to snap is an old silk escape map.

The jacket will be ready Thursday so I'll include lining photos next Friday.

The jacket looks fantastic. I like the lapels and the patch pockets.

My father told me that one should always wear a necktie when one went to one's tailor for a fitting.

Nice looking jacket -- there is nothing like linen!

Looks great, you must show us the lining when the jacket is finished.

You cut a nice figure there Toad! I cannot wait to see what lining you chose.
Have a lovely July 4th, cheers.

Hot damn Toad. You've knocked it out of the fuzzy park with that one. It's nothing short of sublime. Stronger than nine rows of Spring Onions. And I've gotta tell you, when they integrate the silk map into the lining-this rig will be stronger than wolf urine.

Thank you each and every one. When I slipped this jacket on, it just felt right. I cannot wait for it to come home.

Have a safe and happy weekend.

Shades of Sidney Greenstreet?....but looking more like S.Z. "Cuddles" Sakall.

Toad, I love the jacket and the well executed toy soldier stance.

I'm probably not old enough yet to aspire to Cuddles stature. Greenstreetness is reserved for the white suits. I wonder where I can find a fez, short of knocking off a Shriner.

Just beautiful. Something about the fit and the line. Spectacular.

You need to find a fez dispenser!

Hope you have nothing but fun in your new jacket.
