The end is nigh
We're old school around here.
My kids may have been the last of the line, and probably scarred for life because they wore cloth diapers. I know, I washed them.
I had a theory at the time, which is probably still true but has drifted into NMP (not my problem) that wet bottoms were uncomfortable, and kids (of an appropriate age) were more willing to be housebroken if the incentive was to stay dry.
To my mind, disposable diapers, especially for toddlers, kept them too comfortable. One of the intended consequences of disposables I've noticed from friends kids, is that many aren't broken until near school age. That's a lot of extra diapers to buy.
Check out the available sizes of a worldwide brand, and see what I mean.
Size # of diapers Weight Gender
2T-3T 26 18-34 lbs Boys
2T-3T 26 18-34 lbs Girls
3T-4T 23 32-40 lbs Boys
3T-4T 23 32-40 lbs Girls
4T-5T 19 34-50 lbs Boys
4T-5T 19 34-50 lbs Girls
Not throwing stones, but somehow a 50lb.(23k) kid in diapers ain't right.
All may not be lost though. The Huggies folks, just in time for summer, have added a sartorial touch to their line of disposable diapers. Now junior can look just like mom and dad.

Thank goodness I have not had to think about THAT in a decade or two. How odd!
Something disturbing about this, I'm very glad that it falls into NMP for me.
What I dont get about those diapers is how will anyone see them? My little guy wears pants! Over his diapers!
We used cloth diapers for a long time when he was born. We ended up gradually using disposables as we got busier and busier and just didn't have time to do laundry every day *sigh* I have been thinking about going back to them now that housebreaking (LOL!) is on the horizon.
I wonder if the weight range is not a sign of the age of the child, but rather the obesity epidemic sweeping america?
Think the denim ones come in Geezer size?
You're far more optimistic than I am. I think we reached the end a long time ago.
i saw these the other day and thought that someone must have made them as a joke. ugh.
I take offense to your comment about a 50 lb child in diapers. I am the mother of a daughter with multiple disabilities. We are working very hard to get toilet trained, and hope and pray that one day she will be. In the meantime, we are seeking larger sizes because she has outgrown pull-ups. I hope this insight will help you understand that the larger size does serve a critical need.
