To do, or not to do

I have a milestone birthday fast approaching, one that separates the men from the boys, one which got me thinking it's time to retire my avatar, my mid 1980's vision of myself, as highlighted in Norman Hilton's then contemporary advertising. I'm considering something more age appropriate, yet something I can grow into. Hopefully, just as dapper, just as sporting, just as youthful in outlook. The same guy, only more so. What do you think? He's from an old Esquire magazine piece.

Many thanks. Fortunately today is not the day. I think it is Mad Man Day which is also the very much younger Suburban Princess's natal day as well.

Go for the new image! I think that it comes pretty close to doing you justice. Happy Birthday whenever it may occur.

Nope. He looks to resigned. Let me snoop around for you.

I like it...he is at the steeplechase races on his portable seat scouring the entries for the next race....I like it a lot!

"He looks too resigned."

Get OUT. You got "calm" mixed up with resigned.

Look at the suppleness of those bent joints. Look at the straight back and strong posture, muscles tensed just so from a long habit of disciplined activity. Polo, yeah. Notice the balance he's able to achieve on the gizmo he's straddling. Look at his focus, you got calm focus like that? C'mon with resigned. And what's that he's reading, class notes for the courses he's taking, box scores for the senior baseball league he captains, programme for the opera this weekend, new osso b. recipe he's determined to master, the guest list for the benefit he's hosting next month for the Alexandria Va. Historical Society, notice them active at-rest wrists is got no osteoarthritis whatsoever, do you see a double chin anywhere, no, that there's muscle tone gained from a lifetime of activity. The guy is bristling with energy.

I don't got no economics degree, but I can count expressions of activity manifest in a work of art, them diagonal lines tells half the story, ain't not one thing "resigned" going on here, Max.

Don't pay no 'tention to him, Toad.

I like the guy a lot. However, I do find the 'stash off putting. He is someone I'll have to grow into. Unless something great comes along, he may well see action in these parts someday soon.
