Who'd a thunk?

Anyone else really surprised my new friends with the shovels and other cool gadgets showed up around noon, worked an hour or so, told me this project wasn't going to be as hard they estimated, then left? Not I.

Not I --

as there is Central Standard Time and Central Daylight Time -- there is also Central Workman Time --

what is 9 a.m. to you (on CDT) is really 10:30 (on CWT) -- all of them do it --

We just finished putting new stairs out of our breakfast room -- he would say "I'll be back after dinner to do the next step" as he was leaving.

Dinner time came and went and alas -- he didn't come back until 8:30 or 9 a.m. -- His dinner time was really different from ours!

Oh, yes. Here, we are on Eastern Workman Time. The small fencing and gate project that started last week is still in progress. Sort of. When I returned from the cabin, the new gate was leaning against the temporary gate. My guys will be back on Thursday - tomorrow. Or not. They'll be back when they need a check.

In Michael Korda's book "Country Matters" he tells the story of his wife's solution to the missing workmen.

Apparantly, all the workmen frequented a diner in their town for lunch. After she began joining them for lunch, they began to reappear.
