I guess it's the cheekbones? When I saw the first photo though, I though of Jimmie Dean (as in Big Bad John and sausages)... Maybe it's the hat.

Change out the aviators for the square frames, the cowboy hat for the shawl, and I bet it would still be an astonishing likeness...
