Wow, do you suppose some wacko was watching this? Do they get the Daily Show in Yemen?! Can you get cable in a cave? Do I sound like a right wing fanatic? Some many questions, so few answers. An interesting post, thank you.
Thank you for this post, Toad. Calvin is one of my favorite people. Not too long ago I read "Alice". She was beautiful, smart, witty, and he adored her.
Toad...I kid you not...I was reading an excerpt from "Alice" in the New Yorker on the train headed to NYC. When I got to the part where Alice is reading the little handicapped girl's letter from her parents, I just started crying on the train. Powerful. Then I had a cocktail.
I gave Family Man to a new father years ago and enjoyed Tepper Isn't Going Out. I knew what was coming in Alice and couldn't bring myself to actually read the book. Midwesterners have a uniquel view on life.
An irregular conversation about what's on my mind, observations on human nature, the decline of civility, and the ways men and women see the world differently.

How interesting!
He spoke at the Nelson in Dec. and I did not get my tickets fast enough. A great regret.

Gail: knowing how Alice would end, I cried all the way through it.
