4 footed fun

A great watchdog is always on alert.

The intruder is spotted and invited to play.

I have no idea if turtles hear, but this speed demon was barked at for half hour after escaping unharmed. Charlie was not amused!

Gents, Mother's Day is Sunday. 'Nuff said.

Happy VE Day. Thank a vet.

Whose Dog?

For those new to the story, Charlie (left) was a Christmas present to Mrs. T from her children in 2009. A rule was soon established stating that if it were dark, cold, inclement or inconvenient,I was allowed active participation in outdoor puppy training. I spent a lot of time outside that winter, and for my effort Mrs. T's dog Charlie is now my shadow.

Pooh (right) was an old woman's dog, accustomed to the pace and activity of an older woman's household. Not for a minute do I place Mrs. T in that category, but she is recuperating, and to the untrained unfair comparisons may be made. Pooh hasn't yet left her side.

Currently, it's snowing hard and the ancient incantation is already stirring, "if it's dark, cold, inclement...."

Just wondering, can a man/does a man need 2 four legged shadows?

Dem Bones?

Do you read Will Boehlke's A Suitable Wardrobe? I read it much as I do Town and Country, more aspirational than anything, but it is a great daily read.

Last week, Will had a piece on boning shoes. Once upon a time, the outer portion of men's shoes were polished suede, meticulously rubbed with deer bones to give the perfect finish. Today riding boots are about the sole application for boning.

The post got me wondering just where would one pick up a supply of bones for shoe polishing. I asked my friends at Cobblestone, the local Alden source, and got one of those looks. It dawned on me that perhaps if you had to ask...

Where I went wrong was asking people.

Place your order with a 10 pound Shih Tzu and she'll return with the goods.

Fuzzy Slippers

Mrs. T received her first Christmas present of the season Saturday when Charlie arrived. His feet have barely touched the ground since.

Ted the Wonder dog is not amused.

Happy Festivus.
